An Extended Alwest - Part 1

This just came into the boatyard at my marina. The familiar handrails and cleats caught my eye right away. It looks like a 37' that had the stern of another Alwest welded on the back to increase length by a few feet.

It's also had a sturdy keel added as well as squared off chines down the back 75% of the hull. This also reinforces the hull join. Panels were added to the railings and there are panels welded to the bow below the water line. I don't know if this just for reinforcing or repair. There are some good sized dents at the bow.


The house has been fiberglassed so the original aluminum skin appears to have been removed, most likely to fix rot in the plywood, and then glassed over.
