Re: BOAT NAMES...
Ok Terry I'll play along. Eboness was named by my mother. When my step-father was the owner and mom and him where re-painting it, they changed the colour from white/blue to black/cream. Dad wanted to re-name his Alcan and several names came up, but in the end mom decided to combine ebony, for black ...

Manifolds & Risers
Hi Gang, Well Eboness is back in good working order again, thank goodness. Thought I'd tell you about what happened to me so you might catch this if it ever happened to you. I ran my boat to Snug Cove up Howe Sound after work one Friday and enjoyed a nice dinner at the marina there. The next morning...

Anti-Foul Paint
Hi Brian, Thanks for the information, it looks interesting. I found the web page @ http://www.aquagard-boatpaint.com/products.htm and your link has a "K" in it. Just thought everyone should know. Thanks again.

Hi Rob, You sure have that right. I keep a sharp eye on that barrier and so far it works great. When I had the barrier applied they put very thick two coats on it. Most of the aluminum fish boats out here use ABC#4 or #3 with a barrier coat, but I know what you mean. Some of the fisherman I've talke...

Hi Brian, It's funny you should ask about anti-fouling paint as I'm about to re-coat my hull this week. Two years ago I took Eboness's hull down to bare metal and then applied a two part epoxy barrier coat, followed by two coats of anti-fouling red and two coats of anti-fouling black. My reasoning b...

OK . . . Where is Everybody
Hi Rob, I asked the same thing to David just a couple of months back and he said that everyone is in winter sleep mode. Well maybe except us guys on the Left Coast. Going to have Eboness lifted out of the water this weekend for a survey the insurance company wants, something about boats over 25 year...

Merry Christmas
Well it's that time of year and we here on the Left Coast have finished up our Carol Ship Cruises. We had 22 boats cruise up and down the Middle Arm of the Fraser River, Richmond B.C. with lots of festive lights on every boat. My wife and I always look forward to this two day event at our yacht club...

Winterizing
Hi Terry, Well as a left coaster you are right we cruise year round. Yes it gets cold but a good heater and hot chocolate, book and you are set. However this is what I do. We can keep Eboness in the water during winter, but I always drain the house water system, run a heater on a timer for a couple ...

Alwest 370 with Flybridge
Hi Rob & Everyone else, Could someone correct me if I'm wrong but in this ad it states aluminum hull and superstructure? I thought that, and have been told, only Alcan's had aluminum superstructures and Alwest's came with fiberglass over wood. I stand corrected on this point if wrong. Thanks Patrick

Salt Water Questions
Hi Rob, Before I start, great pictures of your boat with the teak decks, looks great. Anyways I'm lucky and unlucky, we keep Eboness at the Richmond Yacht Club which is in the middle arm of the Fraser River. It's not salt water but a higher level of fresh water with salt water mix, tidal. My biggest...

Rendezvous
Hi David, After re-reading your invitation you are right, it does invite all Housecruiser types, sorry. As I've stated before, I think, I know your Mom and Dad from my Burrard Power Squadron days. Your Dad gave me a copy of the Alwest sales information and I gave him a copy of the same for Alcans. I...

290 to plane
Hi Robert, Nice to talk to you. I don't know the 290 design weight, but we have twin 1997 Mercruiser 4.3 LX's V6's @ 190 H.P. each and we plane @ 3200 rpm per engine, doing 16 to 19 knots and W.O.T. to 30 knots +. We has a wet weight of 18,000 lbs. Also most marina lifts have a weight reading capabi...

Rendezvous
Hi Everyone, Great idea David, I wish the crew of Eboness could be there but a cross country cruise would be difficult, the Rockies and all. In 1988 I organized a Alcan/Alwest Rendezvous and had 12 boats meet in Centre Bay, Gambier Island Howe Sound. We had a blast and as usual all the skippers show...
