Terry - what is losing all that weight going to do to the boat? You may need the weight of that hot tub to keep the nose up? Whatever will you do now that you won't have the diesel perfume to breath? All that fresh air can be hard on the lungs.

BOAT FOR SALE
My wife and I have decided to sell our boat. We are both in our upper 70's and we don't have the agility to keep the boat in the bristal fashion that we are accostomed to. We think that a fair price for Sioux would be $45,000.00? We hope to have new window screens and a fresh coat of paint before la...

Window Screens
The window screens on Alcans were built by Beclavat. My screens have all been lost over the years. I would like to replace all the screens [and get rid of the make-shift stuff we have divised to replace the lost screens] by having Beclavat make new ones. I spoke to Mr. Ben Eby of Beclavat and he sai...

Anti Fouling Paint
It seems that either Wax or Tri-lux II is the only choice for aluminum boats in Canada. I wonder what they do in Europe and other places around the world. There should be a more reasonable and effective product available someplace?.

Finally this year I switched to Interlux "Bottom Kote XXX". It did a good job of stopping plant growth and other marine creatures. Brian Govan "Sio...

MARINE VENTS
Terry - I got the name wrong. The proper name is "Nicro" vents. The ones I installed are passive, they do not have motors. They are nearly flush to the deck. They were installed many years ago and we have yet to have any leak - no matter how hard it rains.

Winter Storage
Our Alcan 370 has never been covered. We installed Vetex vents [one forward and one aft on the sundeck]. We have never had a problem with mildew. We insure the batteries are fully charged and leave them on the boat. The theory is that more harm comes from hauling them out that leaving them in place....
